Excel Learning partners with Texas Academy of Faith and Arts (TAFA). TAFA has been offering fine arts and academics to homeschool families with excellence for over 20 years. Excel Learning’s partnership with TAFA consists of core classes and special academic classes that allow homeschool students to experience a wide variety of courses that meet their interests.
Understanding Dyslexia
Have you seen dyslexic characteristics in your student? Has your child's teacher told you your student needs dyslexia testing? What are some of the characteristics and tendencies of students with dyslexia? How do you get help for your student if you suspect dyslexia? What are the best resources and tools for dyslexic students? What are my rights as a parent of a student with learning differences? Sometimes there are more questions than answers! Join us for an informative presentation where your questions will receive answers! Excel's Dyslexia Information Seminar will be hosted by Excel Learning's Director, Rynthia Clements, and AISD Reading Specialist and Dyslexic Tutor, Penny Thompson.
SAT Prep Course
Did you know that EVERY student who has taken Excel Learning's SAT PREP COURSE has increased their score? From college acceptance to choice universities to scholarship range, our students have experienced SUCCESS! This is a 3-week SAT prep course for the October 7, 2023 test. Classes teach proven strategies in: TEST TAKING, READING, ENGLISH, AND MATH. Let's DO THIS!

Effective Study Skills
Mrs. Rhonda Dunn, Advanced Placement English/College Prep teacher will be teaching this course which focuses on Study Skills, Learning Styles, Note Taking Strategies, Short term and Long term memory retention as well as literacy skills. Mrs. Dunn uses games, memory tips, articles, and intellectually stimulating resources to teach students proven techniques which will improve test scores, reading comprehension, and study habits. Students will also take a variety of fun quizzes, giving them information about their own strengths and weaknesses. This class will benefit a wide range of students and provide lifelong benefits!
Apologia Physical Science
This Physical Science course will explore our amazing Earth and the processes and laws God put in place when He created it. Topics to be studied include chemical processes, laws of physics, physical characteristics of the Earth and its atmosphere, and more. Lectures, discussions, hands-on lab experiments and other activities will fill the allotted class time. Best for ages 12-14!

Texas History
Texas, Our Texas! In this course we will survey the political, social, economic, cultural, and intellectual history of Texas from the pre-Columbian era to the present. Themes that may be addressed in Texas history include: Spanish colonization and Spanish Texas; Mexican Texas; the Republic of Texas; statehood and secession; oil, industrialization, and urbanization; civil rights; and modern Texas. This will be a great class as we explore everything Texas! Bring the salsa, tacos, tamales, queso, and jalapenos! Texas proud!

Saxon Pre-Algebra
Pre-Algebra is an introductory course that develops foundational mathematical concepts and skills necessary for success in algebra and advanced math courses. Some topics that are covered are: Prime and Composite numbers, fractions, decimals, order of operations, exponents, square roots, ratios, probability, coordinates, algebraic phrases and more. The class will emphasize problem-solving and critical thinking skills, helping students to develop their ability to analyze and solve problems using mathematical methods. Best for students 12-14 years!

Empowering students through active engagement & relevant resources to successfully prepare them to reach future goals & have a dynamic college career. Course work consists of the differences between AP courses & Dual Credit, creating a stellar resume, financial aid & scholarship information, importance of community service, money management & leadership skills, writing skills, goal setting, skills & strengths inventory, successful decision making, planning for your major, soft skills development & more! This class is best suited for students in the 9th-12 grade. This class will meet monthly.

Exploring Multiple Modalities for Teaching Preschoolers Phonetics throughout the Day. Moms may bring their preschoolers and use this as a teaching time!
